Strawberry Shortcake was designed by Muriel Fahrion for American Greetings and first appeared around 1977; Strawberry Shortcake lived in Strawberryland, with her cat Custard, and her friend Raspberry Tart. Like many of the characters, Strawberry Shortcake was later developed into a doll with hair that smelled like her name.
